At the beginning of the year I set myself six goals to achieve throughout the year ranging from increasing participants in golf to increasing my presence on social media. I am pleased to say that I achieved most of my goals, with two standing out. First I increased participation in golf by coaching at Hornsea Primary school, it was very rewarding to see how the children improved in such a short space of time. I am pleased to say that some of these golfers are now coming to regular coaching on a Saturday morning. I have been in touch with the school and they are keen to have me return to provide more coaching for the children in the new year, which means more people coming into golf.
The second goal I was most pleased to achieve was to get a golf coaching trip off the ground. In early November I took four members of Hornsea to Southern Portugal for a week long coaching and playing break. The feedback I received really made the trip worthwhile and I am already looking forward to repeating this trip next year.
On a personal note the highlight of my year was getting married to Jane and I look forward to many many great years together. We are both looking forward to our honeymoon in a couple of weeks time, which gives us a brilliant start to the New Year. I also feel pretty proud of Jane and I for completing the 3-peaks walk we did in July, at the time it was quite hard work, but when we look back upon it, we do it with delight. At the moment we do not have any plans to do anything like that this year, but we may look at doing one of the national 3-peaks.
