I spent most of Tuesday at Ganton Golf Club following the golfing exploits of Matt McDonnell, Will Marshall and Harry Anderson as they aimed to win the East Riding Junior League. This was Hornsea’s first appearance at the finals since 2010, but considering this was the first year Hornsea have had a team in four years, just reaching the finals was a great achievement.
I hope you all caught a bit of The Solheim since my last blog entry? This is the biennial event played between the ladies of the USA and Europe over three days in a format similar to The Ryder Cup. If you did not see any of the action I would highly recommend finding the highlights on Sky at some point and watching some brilliant golf.
This event can really help promote the Ladies game and at Hornsea we are trying to do the same. For the last 6 months I have been holding Girls only coaching sessions on a Saturday afternoon with some great success stories. Already we have some that are heading out onto the course to join in with the ladies section at the club and we have a few that are not far behind! If you know any girl who would like to have a go at golf then please send them our way. The sessions take place every Saturday between 12-1pm and we will provide all the necessary equipment for them. You never know, one of them could be featuring in the Solheim Cup one day!
