Is it just me or has the weather been rubbish for all of September? I have had to wear trousers again... which I am not too happy about... I can see the trousers becoming a permanent fixture by the end of the month! I managed to squeeze two games golf in last week when I had a round with a friend, then I teamed up with Stuart Pearson for a crack at qualifying for the Hull and District's Wiles Cup. We both played well, but unfortunately we both had bad front 9's, but much better back 9's! Thanks for the game Stuart, hope you are feeling better. Despite our poor round it was nice to see one of my pupils Allan Scarlett qualify for the matchplay stages. Allan works very hard on his game and has been coming to me for lessons for the last couple of months and it great to see his hard work pay off. I have since found out that he also took first place in Hornsea Exchange day at Filey... well done Allan.
Tomorrow evening I am holding the last After Work Club of the year as the darker nights mean that we will run out of light if we do any more sessions. The session is going to be on driving and it would be great to see a big turn out. If you have missed these over the course of the summer, do not despair as they will be returning next year when the weather permits.
I have also decided to change the day, so from the 2nd October my weekly group sessions will take place on a Friday morning. The times will remain the same, so that means the Mens group are first up at 9am, followed by the Ladies at 10.30am
These sessions are perfect for people of all abilities as there is a set topic every week, so if you are new to the game or a seasoned campaigner then please feel free to pop along to a session.
Over the course of the weekend, the final Ladies major of the year was held with Lydia Ko continuing her amazing year by becoming the youngest player in history to win a Ladies major. She shot a final round of 63 to blow away the competition by 6 shots. She has already become the youngest player to top the world rankings when she was just 17, what a year!
After last weeks blog I have had a fantastic response for my golf holiday with five people signing up and lots more people interested. If you fancy having some sun on your back in November and improving your golf in preparation for the next season then please get in touch. We are staying at the 5-star Amendoiera Resort in Southern Portugal which has two of the best courses in the area. We also get to play a couple of the courses in the nearby Villamoura resort, just to add to the trip. I will be running individual and pairs comps over the course of the week with prizes up for grabs. Each morning will feature a coaching session with a different theme each day before we take to the course.
Please pop into the shop or contact me through firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like any more information.
