Good Evening to you all, I hope you managed to dodge the rain over the weekend and get a good game of golf in? The highlight of my weekend was heading over to Pocklington and taking a trip in a glider courtesy of Jane who bought me the trip for my birthday. It is quite a surreal feeling being 3000 meters up without the help of an engine, especially when it drops a little bit due to a change in pressure!
The highlight of my golfing week was the first Summer Junior Camp at Hornsea. Last Friday 5 children joined me for 3 hours worth of golf in what was a hugely successful session. The key to the session was letting the children decide what they wanted to do and then helping them improve. We first looked at long shots and, because all the children were at different standards, we had to tailor the game so that everyone could compete. With a bit of help from me the children came up with a game call Golf-ary (Golf and Archery...I thought this was a great name!). In Golf-ary you have to get the ball to finish as close the bullseye as possible, which we created using cones on the ground. To make it fair for all abilities double points were awarded for certain children. The game was won by Leo, a young man who before the session had never played golf before... well done Leo. If you would like to sign your child up for one of these sessions then please contact me by phone or email, I have also attached a poster for you to have a look at forthcoming dates.
