It's been a very busy week for me, with a great turn out for my gent's coaching session on Tuesday 16th, and due to the success I have arranged some more gents coaching sessions starting on 30th September. These have been particularly fun for me and, most importantly, fun for my pupils. So if you need a brush up in an area of the game then have a look at the image to the right and put the dates in your diary.
On Friday 19th I attended a Putter Fitting/Coaching Course at the Belfry hosted by Dave Hicks. Dave is at the forefront of putting technology and has recently developed the ProCore insert for your putter. It 'dampens' the vibrations that putter makes when the ball is not struck from the middle of the putter. I have had one fitted to my putter and I look forward to testing it and reporting back to you about it. We then looked at the biomechanics of how we set up to the ball and how much this influences how we stroke the putt. How many people believe that their eyes should be over or inside the line of the ball? How many of you believe that the eyes should NOT be outside the ball? I originally believed the former, but please comment below and I will tell you why 'eyes outside of the line' is ok. The final part of the day was devoted to putter fitting and how much difference having an 'offset' putter can make. In the past I have looked at things such as length, loft, lie, face balanced etc, but now I understand why a putter will need offsetting...very interesting stuff!
So this is the end of my first ever blog and I hope you found it interesting. I am now about to head up to Gleneagles on Friday to watch the Ryder Cup. I am so excited to be going to see this spectacular event as it has been a dream of mine ever since my earliest memory of the Ryder Cup back in 1991 at Kiawah Island, often refered to as 'The War on the Shore'. After the excitement of the Miracle of Medinah in the last Ryder Cup I am sure it will be a closer match than most people think and in a strange way I think they will be stronger without Tiger Woods.
I will be writing about my experience next week and will hopefully have plenty of pictures for you.
Have a great golfing weekend.
