They are showing the sort of form that can get them back into contention after this weekends Brough Junior Open. The team of Captain Matt McDonnell, Will Marshall and Albert Anderson combined to claim the team trophy for Hornsea. All players gave their all, but it was a fantastic nett 64 from Will that really made difference. This also makes Will the lowest handicapped junior in the club…but I am sure Matt and Albert will be looking to claim that title from Will…I love a bit of friendly competition!
This brings me nicely on to the next crop of Juniors I am hoping will be representing Hornsea in the next few years. Over the last 5 weeks I have been into Hornsea Community Primary School to give the year 5 children taster sessions. These have culminated in a golf festival at the club today where all 75 children descended on the course for more fun based games. I have already started seeing some of these kids come to my Saturday sessions and after today I fully expect to see a lot more.
If you know of anyone who would like to have a go at these sessions the please send them our way. Junior Fun Golf starts at 10am every Saturday and is open to everyone. Girls only golf starts at 12noon and is proving very popular you do not need to be a member and all equipment is provided for you. I hope to see some future stars this Saturday.
I am constantly trying to improve the quality of lessons I give, by investing in either my knowledge of the swing or by finding ways to help you swing the golf club better. I have recently purchased a brilliant training aid called the ‘dual hinge’ to help improve your swing plane. The club is just like a regular 5 iron, but the difference is that it has two hinges in the shaft that will bend if you swing the club in a particular way.
