Good evening to you all, I hope that you all have managed to play some good golf over the weekend? For me, things have settled down now after a crazy start to the year and already players are winning competitions after having coaching from me. In Sunday's Individual Stableford, Dave Blanchard Jnr shot 37 points to claim top place, only two days earlier Dave and I had a playing lesson to find out where he was losing shots.
During the lesson we worked on two fairly simple corrections that he could take forward into this weekends golf. From what I have heard from Dave these corrections worked and he had a 74% shot success rate. In our next session we will be continuing our work as there are other parts of his game that need a little bit of work, but we will continue to monitor his success rate and our goal is to reach 90% success.
This is a great example of how Dave and I have set some specific goals and are now measuring them... remember the SMART goal setting suggestion I made in a previous blog?
If you want to know how we got to set these goals, then please come and see me in the shop.
Call me on 07745543940 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to book your lesson
This offer is valid until the end of February only and lessons must be taken in February.
As you know, I have been coaching the juniors at Hornsea Golf Club for about 18 months now and we are really starting to see them take their golf a lot more seriously. They are getting to the age where they are all striving to improve their golf and it is now starting to show. After Sundays juniorcompetition all five that played now have a valid handicap of 28 or less which allows them to play in mens competitions.
A quick mention to the winner of the competition, Alfie Anderson, who broke 100 for the first time and beat his dad! In our first Junior Academy sessions all the Juniors set goals for themselves, one of Alfies was to get his handicap down from 33 to 28... well done Alfie, goal achieved!
The five Juniors who played have the following handicaps which allows them to play in adult competitions. One of my personal goals was to get the Juniors to be playing on the course more and with other people so don't be surprised if I ask you to let one of them join up in the up coming weeks!
Alfie Anderson - 28
Will Marshall - 27
Harry Anderson - 25
Matt McDonnell - 25
Albert Anderson - 20
Finally for this week, I would like to tell you about a new toy I have bought. These are pictures of the PING Putter Cradle which helps improve putting and also is extremely helpful when fitting you for a putter. An iPhone is placed in the cradle and attached to the shaft of the golf club. After hitting five putts it can tell you various information about your stroke, such as loft at impact, tempo and stroke curvature. From here we can work out if your putter matches your stroke and whether you are likely to hole more putts with a different putter.
