Good evening everyone, I started writing this weeks blog this morning when my group lessons were rained off... how typically British weather we have had for a bank holiday! I found it very funny that when I typed in 'British weather' to Google, that this was the first picture that came up! I hope that the weather has not prevented you from playing some golf over the weekend?

For me, the best action from the weekend came from the two left hander's on tour. First of all Phil Mickelson was crazy enough to try an over the head shot in a competition! Lets be honest, we have all probably tried this at some point with a mixed amount of success... how many people have thinned a ball 100 yards trying this? Ok, so the shot did not come off, but you have to give him a huge amount of credit for trying it!

The second bit of action came from Brian Harman who made a hole in one on the 3rd hole, making it 40 hole in one's for the season. He came to the 14th and produced another stunning shot to hole out from 218 yards with a hybrid, giving him his second hole in one in this round. How many people would like just one hole in one?
For those who are asking what the odds are... 65 million to 1!
The golf a bit closer to home has been pretty good as well, Hornsea's Leigh Gawley won the prestigious East Riding Amateur Matchplay final in a closely fought match at Ganton. Leigh held a commanding lead after the first 18 holes, only to be pegged back in the afternoon. Leigh showed great resilience to come through with a 3&1 victory. Congratulations Leigh.
Finally this week sees the final Junior Camp of the summer, Hornsea Golf Club and I are passionate about Junior golf and developing and inspiring as many juniors in the area to take up this great game. Over the first 6 weeks of the holidays we have had loads of kids joining in and we have not just seen existing players, but we are now starting to see new faces at both the Summer Camps and the Saturday morning sessions I run. If you would like your child or grandchild to have a go at this great game, then please do not hesitate to contact me via this website or through the shop at Hornsea.
