Good evening to you all, what a weekend of sport it has been; England football, England rugby union, Tennis at Queens and US Open golf. Why have I mentioned these other sports? Well, in any of the aforementioned sports you would not get a finish like we got in the golf! Only in golf could there be such a stupid rule that may change the outcome after the competition has finished, that could have been solved 2 hours earlier. I am sure that by now most of you have found out what happened in the final round of last night’s US Open final round when Dustin Johnson was nearly prevented from winning his first major because of a rules mishap.
All the training has been done, all the food has been bought, all the golf clubs have been cleaned and now they are ready for it. What do I mean by this? Well, this week sees the Hornsea 150 take place, I am sure you all know what this is about by now, but just in case you have been living in a bubble, here is a final reminder. Joe Palmer & Leigh Gawley are two Hornsea members who have set themselves a target of playing 150 holes of golf in just one day. They are due to tee off at approximately 4:30am and with only a couple of short breaks they should be finished about 9:30pm. The 150 holes cover about 54 miles which is the equivalent of walking from Hornsea to York!
A couple of weeks ago I told you all about how well the Junior’s had done in the East Riding Team Championships. They now go forward to represent the East Riding in the Yorkshire Team Championships in Middlesbrough on the 10th July. I am heading up to support the boys and I am hoping to get a good few people to come along and cheer the boys on. The first tee time is not until 11am so it is not a crazy early set off time, I will be looking to set off either from the golf club at about 8.30am. Alternatively, if you live in Hull or Beverley, something else can be arranged. If you would like to go to support the boys please let me know.
Personally I have had a great week since I last wrote, another busy week with lessons. This is set to continue this week with next to no lesson slots available until next Monday, so I you would like a lesson, please let me know. I even managed to find time to go to Kinsley Greyhound Stadium in Wakefield on Saturday night as a belated birthday present. Over the course of the night 15 races took place and did I manage to pick a winner….nope, not one!!! Despite not picking any winners Jane managed to get a massive 7 winners which made the night worthwhile…if you fancy a bit of a giggle then I highly recommend getting some mates together for a good night.
