Good evening, its been quite a long and tiring weekend as I have managed to stay awake and watch most of the golf. Did you? I thought Jason Day played fantastically well over the course of the four days and fully deserved to win his first major. I think that this may be the opening of the flood gates and there will be more majors to come for him over the next couple of years. I thought he kept his cool throughout the final 18 holes, especially when others around him were making their moves. What I was most impressed with was the way he stuck to his routine regardless of the situation, what I often see from some of my pupils is their pre-shot routine change depending on the situation they are in. If your routine has helped you get into a strong position in your round/competition then why change it?
It was a great effort by Jordan Spieth to finish as high up as he did and we should extend our congratulations to him for knocking Rory McIlroy of the top of the world rankings... I wonder how often these two will swap place over the next few years? I feel that Spieth is the more consistent player, but when both are on song I would put my money on McIlory 9 times out of 10. It may have been a slightly different story this weekend if McIlory had a couple of tournaments under his belt.
I am finding hard to write this next piece as it reminds me that summer is slowly on its way out. Next Wednesday, which is the 26th August is the start of another set of After Work Club sessions, the sad part of this is that I can only fit four sessions in due to the nights drawing in. The After Work Club has been a huge sucess for me this year and if you havent managed to get to one, then I strongly recommend you try to make one of these. I have picked, what I think, are the most popular sessions from throughout the summer and I do hope you can make it to one or all of them
Due to a scheduling conflict I have had to change a date for my Monday morning group sessions. Originally there was a back to basics session planned for 24th August, this has now been put back to the 31st August. Please click on the pictures to view the new dates.
