The event itself was won by world number one Inbee Park who, despite not being at her best for the first three days, put in a stellar performance on the final day to claim yet another major. Her 65 on the last day was the low round of the week and it tied the ladies course record... what do they say about the cream always rising to the top? This is also the first time she has won the Ladies Open and it gives her a career grand slam. We also saw a pretty good performance from some of the home grown talent, with Amy Boulden and Melissa Reid tying for 9th place.
A player may find it hard to reproduce the same posture position for this shot as they would with a shot from a flat lie. You may find that you have to reach for the ball and you have to bend over a bit more or widen your stance. This can have a pronounced effect on the amount of rotation your body can produce. Most players find that a ball below the feet will mean less rotation is possible, therefore a player should take an extra club when preparing to play the shot.
2, Left to right curve - the player loses a bit of balance and moves towards the ball, this creates an out to in swing path and can also cause the face to tilt to the left.
3. Right to left - The player maintains their balance, but the heel of the club makes contact with the ground first and causes the club face to point right.
Take an extra club
Move your weight towards your heels
Maintain your balance as your swinging
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will find time to show you how to play a shot with the ball on a down hill and up hill lie.
So far my Junior Summer camps have been a massive hit with 17 children taking part in the two that have taken place so far. The next one is just around the corner on Friday 7th August at Hornsea Golf Club. In the two sessions so far we have covered things such as pitching driving, chipping and even had chance to get onto the course. If you would like to give you child/grandchild this opportunity join in with this session, then please contact me either by email at email@example.com or call me on 07745 543940.
