Hi Paul
Just to let you know the things you had me working on yesterday in my lesson seem to be paying off. I played today and felt much more in control of my swing which generated a cleaner contact and better ball striking. I was hitting it more consistently and 10 yards further per iron, along with increased GIR. I bettered my weekend score by 4 shots, playing to 5 over gross (off 9) so was well pleased. Thought you'd want to know as I would definitely recommend your lessons to other budding golfers.
Thanks
Craig

Good afternoon Paul,
Many thanks for your input to improving my game following the lesson you so ably gave. This last week you will be pleased to learn I was back on course and playing to my handicap for the first time since last year. However, do not raise your hopes too much of receiving any commission on any earnings that may come my way via golf just yet.
Thanking you once again,
Melvyn Pittaway, HGC

Hi Paul,
Just a note to say thanks for my winter lessons. You may remember that what I wanted out of the lessons was to retain my handicap. Did that in Saturday, with 4 shots dropped on the back nine, after dropping 9 in the first half. The mental bit of not counting did help, but the biggest gain was in believing that I could still play to a reasonable standard.
Thanks again,

I have been playing golf off and on for over 50 years and had never won anything at all in all those years. Last year I had a few lessons with Paul who identified key areas for me to work on with the result that I won not one but three trophies within the space of a few months and got my handicap down from 28 to 25. Paul is a great teacher and I can thoroughly recommend his lessons.

Hi Paul,
Just to let you know I've played 3 times since the lesson I had with you, bearing in mind I've been playing off 28 and scoring no more than 25 points;
Hornsea Saturday 38 points
Brands yesterday 37 points
Brands front 9 tonight (works golf society short match) 26 points, 6 over gross on 9 holes!!!! Amazing score for me.
What a difference it's made being in play from the tee, can't believe I've been putting up with the golf the last 6 month's like I have and an hour with you has made such a difference. If I'd of had time to carry on for a full 18 tonight I would have had by far my best round to date and would have broken 90 im sure!!
Thank you for your help. Look forward to the next step moving forward!!!!!
Cheers

Many thanks to Paul following my recent club fitting. He took time to find me the correct shaft, and most importantly to get the correct club lie angle. By using SkyTrak I was able to see I was hitting the ball straighter, with a much higher flight, a tighter dispersion pattern and a gain of 20 yards . Now my clubs have arrived, I can aim at the flags without having to allow for/expecting to miss right . This has re-energized my passion for the game and removed a lot of frustrations! I would certainly recommend anyone considering new clubs to have them fitted. Thanks again Paul .

Hi Paul
Just read you notes on the golf tour, great reading. Thank you again for a great trip, it was as last year good fun, with great company.
As for the tuition, I felt this year, with your guidance and coaching my general understanding and approach to the golf game has moved forwards in leaps and bounds. I think the one major lesson I have learnt is, if it repeatedly works for me, then don’t change it.
Hope you have a good trip again next week and I will see you on your return.

After years of trying to play golf and now vowing to take it more seriously by spending a little less time at work and a little more time playing golf.
My work with Paul started light heartedly, progressing more quickly now with Paul understanding the frustrations of an older golfer who had a lot of bad habits.
Paul adapts his teaching skills to suit the person and explains things in a way that is easy to understand. Having got to know a little about my background Paul could adapt the way to explain things, we started with the technical side of a “out to in “ swing and what was happening to the ball in flight. Not as I thought, the magnetic pull of the earth core sending it right. Ha!
I also struggled with the mental side of the golf, having little confidence especially on the first tee. Paul worked with me on an approach and speed of playing the first shot and my confidence is growing each time I tee off.
The recent bad weather is not helping with my scores but they are gradually rising each Saturday but as the weather improves I am confident my handicap will fall.
I look forward to my lessons with Paul each month, not just for the lesson but conversation we have surrounding the subject and its technical point.

In theory I’m a 14 handicapper but in practice over the past couple of years it’s invariably been much higher than that, to the point where my enjoyment of the game was rapidly diminishing. I’ve known Paul since his days at Hainsworth Park and finally made the effort about a year ago to arrange a lesson. It was a very good move; it would have been easy for him to have pointed out everything I was doing wrong but he preferred to be positive about the parts of my game that weren’t too bad and to encourage me to build on those. ‘Realistic goals’ is a topic we discussed at some length, as was ‘letting go of the bad shots’, and he has steadily improved my game and hence my confidence and enjoyment. I like Paul’s relaxed and patient style of teaching, I’ve made clear progress already and I’m sure that will continue during my future lessons with him.

I have made more progress with Paul in just a few lessons than i have with other coaches in 5 years. Working with you and using your strengths as a starting point (which inspires confidence in your own ability) you soon get a picture of what you need to work on to improve all aspects of your game, from mindset to technique, and get that handicap falling.
Through his methods Paul for golfers of all levels manages to make what can what be a complicated and difficult game simpler & easier to understand and above all fun.
I will be looking forward to more improvement from working with Paul again in the coming year.

I joined Hornsea Golf Club back in October 2016 and was given my starting handicap of 20 when I first put my initial three cards in. I my first year I was scoring well but not well enough to threaten any score boards and also not to threaten my handicap coming down in any way. I have always thought about getting golf lessons but never really had the courage to go and enquire about them, this year my wife spoke to Paul and got me a 3 hour lesson package for my birthday. Still being dubious about having a lesson I went along for my first lesson, once I settled in to my lesson I really started to enjoy it and started to put what I was told in to effect. Paul breaks it down in to easy steps and what is also good he tries to withdraw all the information from yourself which starts to make you think! ‘ what you want to achieve?’ and ‘ what you are going to do in order for you to achieve your aim’. After my first lesson I went from 19 to 17 and started to get more competitive scores on a weekly basis in Mid-Week Stableford as well as competition on a weekend. 3 weeks later I went back for my second lesson, straight away Paul had me titivating everything that he had previously taught me in my first lesson which was still improving my golf game. In my final lesson we spent half an hour on the putting green followed by an hour on the course which give me the opportunity to put everything in practice on the golf course rather than the practice area, after my package was complete Paul give me a realistic goal in getting my handicap down to 15 by Christmas. I started to strike the ball so much better and I was getting the distance I should of be getting with my clubs shoot high 30 scores as well as scoring over 40 points in three NON Qualifier competition, on the 21st December in the mid-week Stableford I come in with 46 points and my handicap was cut to 12.7. Today without these 3 lessons I very much doubt if I would be any way near the handicap I am now, to anybody thinking about lessons and those that are unsure personally I think it’s a no brainer! If you want to develop your golf game don’t hesitate and book lessons with Paul.

I've had a few 1-to-1 and group lessons with Paul over the last 2 years, and I can genuinely say he's one of the best instructors I've had - given my promiscuity with golf coaches, that's quite a competitive field!
Firstly, he's a very personable and laid-back guy who keeps the emphasis on enjoyment: playing golf, being coached, improving your game, should be fun; otherwise why bother. Paul knows you get a lot more out of a lesson if you're relaxed.
Second, he keeps it simple. He finds out what your improvement objectives are, then hones down his instruction to a very small number of changes you can make to move towards your goal.
He doesn't shower you with jargon and the technical/mechanical aspects of the golf swing. For me, as someone who tends to over-think their game and amass a collection of 'silver bullet' swing thoughts on a round, that really works.
Third, he's very good value for money. I'd recommend Paul's 1-to-1s if you need his prolonged, undivided attention, but the group lessons at a fiver per person for 90 minutes is a fantastic proposition - especially when you factor in the individual attention, including video playback, he gives to each person in the sessions.
Finally, he gets results. An example: I came to my bunker lesson with a woeful record of about 1 passable sand shot every 5. Over the next few weeks I got it up to 3 every 5 on average, using the simple changes he encouraged, and now it's closer to 4. I'll be back for another lesson or 2 at some point this year, probably with my mid/long iron play on the couch. Cross fingers he'll be able to work the same magic.

As a member of the Seniors with a handicap of 23 I have twice been in a situation where a loss of confidence in basic skills has led to me consulting you for lessons. By the use of one or two key teaching points (not too many) reinforced with video analysis, online feedback and most importantly a positive teaching manner you have helped me improve and enjoy my golf. Other lessons on putting and chipping have also proved valuable. I can, and do, recommend your coaching to all our members

After trying other local pros in the area for additional coaching I was recommended to try Paul, pleased to say that my game has had a noticeable change for the positive to taking Paul up on his tuition, a man with a great deal of patience and common sense approach. I will continue to use Paul and recommend him as a quality, qualified professional who respects your level of golf and looks to work with you to improve in a friendly manner

I started having lessons with Paul when he was at Hainsworth Park and because I find him very relaxed, friendly, helpful and approachable, I have followed him to Hornsea. He has helped me to gain more confidence in my golf and by assisting me to choose which clubs to buy and which shafts would suit my swing. I have been able to become more consistent, improve my distance and reduce my handicap. He does not just give a quick fix, but explains where I am going wrong and how to correct it. By videoing my swing, he can show me what I have to work on. I now have a more positive mindset and would willingly recommend Paul as a good teacher.

Hi Paul at last getting down to writing to thank you for the best chipping lesson ever. Before your lesson I just had no confidence chipping but I practiced hard at what you taught me and instead of practicing faults I practiced the correct way you taught me, and the video was especially helpful I just never realised how bad I was.
Since the lesson I have won a couple of things and it is all up to you as they say not how you drive it's how you arrive, and with that in mind I think I should have your help with my driving!! You are the best.

I had a number of lessons from Paul during the 2015 and 2016 summers in Hornsea. My being a left hander, Paul was the ideal coach for me to eradicate my strong tendency to slice away to the left. He quickly identified the problems and produced a number of suggested solutions which I have worked on this past year. His accompanying iPad videos have been a tremendous help in refining those weaknesses that have to be dealt with. The ability to re-look at the videos any time brings great benefits from recall. I can now consistently drive straight thus greatly improving my chances to reduce my handicap and enabling me to keep out of the gum trees! As a coach, he will be also equally effective for the right handers too!
Paul quickly identifies what is wrong with your game and explains clearly and patiently what you need to do. I highly recommend his services to any golfer seeking solutions to his/her game.

Being new to the game of golf, but already addicted I needed sound advice from someone other than my partner! I asked Paul to help and over the past year have taken a package of lessons addressing one aspect of my game at a time. He is patience personified and is able to quickly identify a problem and tweak my game to suit the way I play. My handicap is coming down slowly and I know I have along way to go but with Paul's help I will continue to enjoy my golf and hopefully improve. I recommend him to everyone who wants to improve.

My standard of golf has deteriorated with age and my problem has been keeping the ball straight. This has caused me to think too much about my swing and how to correct it. I have been to see Paul a number of times both on my own and also in group lessons and he has been able to give me a number of pointers which have helped me to concentrate on the swing only rather than trying to analyse my faults. Paul is very enthusiastic, helpful and patient and I would recommend him to any golfer whatever standard.

I have had a few lessons with other professionals before Paul, but have found it difficult to put their teachings into practise. This year I have had more time available to play golf and, as I was not progressing, I decided to have some golf lessons, but this time with Paul. These lessons have concentrated mainly on the basics, being something of a beginner, and Paul has proved himself to be a very patient and positive teaching. He has helped me improve my grip and most importantly my swing. He is very supportive and friendly and uses his knowledge well to explain where the problems exists and suggests changes to improve performance. I especially found it useful to have a set of lessons which were spread over a number of weeks to allow time to put into practice the ideas and skills he taught.
I have also made use of Paul's group lessons which are excellent value for money.
I have no hesitation in recommending Paul to any golfer wanting to improve their game by taking professional lessons.
Yours sincerely

I was mature high handicapper lacking in confidence. Sounds sad but I judged how good a round was by the amount of balls that I lost. “So could a short series of lessons from Paul turn things around?”
At the outset the simple methods that Paul undertook to evaluate my swing concluded that there was indeed some real positive aspects to work on. Sure I was never going to be a Tiger Woods but knowing that I could be much better actually boosted my self-esteem.
The introduction of small step changes that I could relate to and implement during the lessons were a big confidence builder. Excellent communication and Paul's philosophy "to keep it simple" was working on the practice ground but importantly could I replicate it on the course? A big helper was a part round accompanied by Paul to address some issues that aren’t so relevant on the range. Alignment to the target in particular! Oh so simple but so often forgotten. We discussed Course Management, also an important factor that until then I hadn't really taken on board. Wow lots to absorb! Even though I was often frustrated with my progress fortunately Paul has heaps of patience.
Results count for everything. Yes my overall game has improved dramatically. I'm consistent and really enjoy golf much more now than I ever did.
Will I undertake more lessons? - absolutely!
It's also worth mentioning that Paul keeps an eye on my score cards and discusses my rounds every time that I see him. A great 'added value' for me combined with the fact that he always makes it all quite personal.

Before joining the golf club last year, I had a series of lessons with Paul. Each session was very enjoyable and all of Paul’s teaching points were kept simple and easy to understand. I was able to take these onto the course and apply them at key moments, which proved very helpful at key moments in rounds.
Paul has an ability to focus on the existing strengths in your game rather than letting you dwell on the negatives. He helped me to also realise that I should be enjoying the game rather than focusing on what went wrong.
Since my lessons, I have maintained regular contact with Paul and his enthusiasm and encouragement has helped me move my game forward greatly. In fact, as he predicted the areas which I initially worked on with him, have now become strengths in my game. Much to my surprise!
Thank you.

I have been a member of Hainsworth Park Golf club now for about 16 years and it was there that I first met Paul Gibson. As all golfers will know from time to time hiccups can and do occur in your game, bad habits creep in and become normal without you really being aware of what you are doing wrong. I booked a series of lessons with Paul at Hainsworth Park and have carried them on with Paul at Hornsea.
My lessons were to predominantly work on my short game, the lessons included short video shoots with instant playback, this really helped during the lesson and I could not believe how quickly Paul was able to resolve some of my bad habits by just concentrating on my posture and swing plane.
The lessons have given me confidence to commit to the shot and I will continue with them on a regular basis.
Thanks Paul

Hi Paul,
Just a quick line to thank you for the Bunker Play Lesson, I found it to be very constructive and after taking onboard your advice I no longer have any qualms about getting out of the dreaded bunkers. It still doesn’t work every time but I have the confidence to play the shot.
Best wishes

Like most weekend golfers playing off 19 handicap and of a certain age [60+], I thought that I was as good as I could ever get. However, after I had few individual lessons with Paul and after attending some of his group lessons, my handicap is now down to 12.5.
My fade or should I say slice has nearly gone and I am hitting the ball 30 to 40 yards further and in the right direction, straight. When my golf isn’t very good, he has quickly got me back on track, playing golf to my handicap.
The best part for me was the video of my swing, this enabled me to actually visualise what I was doing wrong and I believe that when you are trying to learn something it's really beneficial to be able to see the mistake from the "side view" [does my tum look that big]. Paul, then explains clearly and in simple terms how to remedy the faults in your swing or stance, this makes him a really good teacher.
I am highly delighted with what he has done for me and will keep going back.
I also have recommended him to all of my golfing friends.

I am a 27 handicapper and have played golf for 8 years. I took lessons from Paul for the first time in 2016. The lessons have been on grass with normal balls which I much prefer. I was very taken with his enthusiasm which indicated to me that he was confident of improving my game. This proved to be the case particularly with putting, sand play and chipping. My long game has also improved significantly but consistency with driving and using fairway woods off the deck is still work in progress. Our last lesson dealt in part with club head manipulation which previously I thought was beyond my abilities. I should add I am over 70. An old dog learning new tricks and it was fun!
The follow ups to the lessons are excellent reminding me of his advice and instruction on the day. A video of my latest swing is always included.
Although an avid reader of golf instruction books most of what I have learned from Paul has been new to me. He has however always been willing to discuss the pros and cons of other methods and techniques. He is very patient!
To conclude I have no hesitation in recommending Paul Gibson.

Claudio Ranieri learned a great lesson after a distinctly unsuccessful time at Chelsea when he was known as the ‘Tinker-Man’. During his term, no match or practice session went by without a personnel, positional or tactical change. Post-match reviews were fraught with frowns and often unintelligible. The result – chaos, frustration, and ultimately underperformance and disappointment.
Jump forward several years and good lessons taken on board, and The Tinker-Man had become the Thinker Man, concentrating his coaching efforts at Leicester City on identifying the things that work well, practising the drills that make the skills more dependable, and developing a confidence, belief and trust in what the players were doing. This time Claudio was to stick to a much smaller group of players than in years before. Not the most skilful, or most expensive set of players, but those willing to listen and work hard. Something that I could definitely relate to! Added to all that a new post-match interview style: relaxed, laughing and constantly in praise of his team.
I’ve been a teacher for many years. Of kids that is! So I have spent quite a few of those studying the relationship between teaching and its intended outcome - learning. Sometimes a convoluted and mysterious relationship that seemed without doubt to pass some of my professional colleagues by, it has become clear to me over years of trying, that the best learning occurs when doing and having fun. There is usually an emotional impact involved in successful learning and developing brain and muscle memory. Therefore not surprisingly, the best teachers provide opportunities to do and enjoy. So it was great to ‘take part’ in learning opportunities provided by Paul Gibson, the teaching Pro at Hornsea GC.
The taught parts of the learning were always recognisable as part of the whole, and, refreshingly, started from the base of what I felt I was already doing well and consequently quite happy with. I’ve always believed that parts of a whole process, once disconnected, can often be quite difficult to fit back in if changed, like someone has mixed the pieces of several jigsaws, compounding problems through unnecessary tinkering. I have also been amazed that my best rounds of golf were usually completed with the minimum of swing tinkering! Just belief and confidence allowing the muscle memory to take control, and a strange serenity to fall. I love a good sing and laugh when I’m playing well. Tension and frustration are not friends of my best swing!
Paul’s teaching talent, or gift if you like, is being able to involve the learner in taking control of the learning and to understand what is achievable. Asking the simple questions, ‘What are you doing well?’; ‘What are you wanting to achieve?’; and ‘Do you believe you can do it?’ He works as much with the mental side of the skill development as the practical game management. ‘Once you have identified what you need to do, and have practised the skill, put it into the full game situation and commit to it.’
Gibbo’s continuous encouragement is always welcome, and an email summary of what was gathered from the lesson acts as a gentle reminder of what was, or can be achieved, as well as the targets agreed for future practice and play. The theory is there when needed, but it’s the practical element and mental underpinning that certainly chimes with me. After all I’m a lot more Leicester City seeking the buffer zone and hoping for a possible 40 points, than a Kings Road geezer expecting the Champion’s League. And just as surprisingly, I did manage a bit of silverware this year too. Oh yes, and I hate jigsaws!
Keep up the great work Paul.

I have had a group of lessons with Paul over the last few months He speaks my language and doesn't try to blind me with science. It is an absolute pleasure to be taught by him. We have a good laugh and I always come away thinking I am now a scratch golfer I am not but definitely better than before. I now imagine Paul stood behind me on every shot shouting hit it as if you're angry.

Hi Paul,
The putting has come on a lot since our lesson. I have the odd one that I don’t hit correctly but I but that down to golf in general... LOL.
Since our lesson I have looked at my stats on putting and they have come down. Also my handicap has come down to 9.9 lowest I have ever been. I do think more over the long distance putts which helps me with getting the ball to the hole on more consistence performance now.
Cheers

I initially went to Paul to regain my confidence and self esteem after a difficult year. He has helped me to be positive and given me tips and strategies to practise and use on the golf course. In addition we have revisited most areas of the game and in each session I have gained at least one new point, technique or adjustment to work on. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Paul does not work on overload which suits me, encourages me constantly and his enthusiastic manner makes lessons most enjoyable. Just the tonic I need!

Over the a period of time I have had a number of lessons with Paul, both individual and group ones.
I have always enjoyed the way Paul helped me look at my swing and what was working and what wasn't. He never tries to change your swing but rather gives you tips and pointers on how you can improve your own unique way of hitting the ball. He looks carefully at what you are doing and suggests single, simple changes that you can make (and more importantly remember) - he never over complicates things. So if you have a problem area in your game ( and let's face it, we all have and they keep changing!! ) go see Paul - he'll help you big time!

I booked a package of lessons with Paul early in the year, as a new member (although I knew Paul a little from my Hainsworth Park days). I can't remember all the details of the lessons, but I do remember that I was pleased that Paul was willing to work with 'what I've got' as I really don't believe in the 'you've got to grip like this' or 'you've got to stand like this' methodology that I've encountered in the past. I'm too old for a 'rebuild' at 71 and most of the greatest players in history had faults which they had to learn to live with somehow, so I firmly believe that a rigid approach to the swing is not really 'validated'. I have a pretty short swing (well, not pretty in the 'beautiful' sense!) these days, which is funny, considering I used to swing like John Daley many years ago! Paul is very enthusiastic (equally so in his group sessions which I found helpful) and I found it useful to be able to bounce ideas back and forth, plus have some critique on major faults (such as swaying on the backswing). He also helped me when I developed a bout of the shanks (there, I've said it!) which I seem to get ingrained from time to time and make me frightened to play (a grown man too!). You need someone who is understanding to help with the fear factor and analyse why it is happening and provide a hopefully lasting cure. My fairway woods and short pitches/chips have always been a problem, and Paul helped me with these too - especially the latter. You have to be prepared to practice, of course (to develop 'feel' - nobody seems able to teach that). I can even hit a decent fairway wood now on occasions, I really wish I could do it reliably but I still hit a decent 4 iron and tend to use that to the detriment of getting more confident with the woods out on the course with a pound at stake! I suppose I may have to seek help in the Spring to make further progress. I particularly liked the 'instant' video feedback on problems via Paul's tablet, as I really believe you have to see some things to really accept that you ARE doing them. Paul must really love the game to maintain his enthusiasm for teaching such a difficult game and, based on my own experience, he really stands out in that respect.

Having had a number of lessons over the past 18 months, I highly recommend Paul Gibson if you want to either learn how to play golf or improve your game. He immediately puts you at ease during the lesson, and by working with what he sees in front of him Paul breaks down the components of your swing so it is easier to understand what you need to do to improve.
What I like most is that during each lesson he only gives you one or two things to concentrate on so you aren’t overloaded and he helps you identify body clues so that you know how to reproduce what you learned during the lesson when you are practicing and when out on the course playing a round. Also, having the opportunity for Paul to video your swing during the lesson is an added plus to re-enforce the lesson…..
Thanks

'....definitely going to book some more lessons with you Paul. You have really helped my game, and its easy not to realize how bad habits can creep into your swing-but with instant video replay there is no hiding! Thanks Paul for your great lessons...'

A few months ago my lovely husband identified that I needed a 15 degree three wood to fill a gap in my clubs and bought me one. I initially had some difficulty in using it and visited our good friend Paul for a "quick fix". As usual Paul managed to sort me out and get me hitting balls consistently. Since then my handicap dropped from 20 to 17.6. Mainly due to the performance of the 3 wood.
I have always found that I respond well to Paul's relaxed and understanding methods of teaching and that he does not over complicate his tuition.

Although we were there ultimately for the golf (which was brilliant) I did also view it as a break from the normal stresses of work and a period of time to be able to let my hair down away the normal daily routines. With this in mind, I thought the resort, accommodation and golfing facilities at Amendoeira were superb, along with the staff (who were more than helpful) however, it did feel a little isolated there, detached from the wider world and remote. I think it's important to be able to get a break from golf and the group as a whole during the week and with the short daylight hours a resort/accommodation that offers another outlet like swimming and spar facilities, or is closer to the beach or town to be able to walk to another pub or restaurant etc would be more beneficial and appealing in the future.
The lessons you gave every morning were brilliantly executed, informative and most importantly extremely enjoyable. I particularly liked the way you set out little tasks in order to improve our putting and short chipping game. You are able to analyse an individual's golf game perfectly and use technology to explain shortfalls in a manner that we can digest without the need of drastically changing our whole game which can sometimes lead to disaster on the course, it's the little tweaks in my game that you gave me which helped the most, enabling me to improve the most. I also thought you communicated in an excellent and professional manner at all times accessing the needs of each individual player separately in order to tailor their own game as required. You were great and think your strengths come from knowing the game and how to introduce a bit of fun (and friendly competition) while learning. Would not hesitate to recommend lessons from you to all and sundry and most likely will.
All in all a great week, although socially quiet at times, it was highly enjoyable, very informative and the golf was quite outstanding and excellent, just like the weather........
Thank You very much for taking us.

A first class well organised trip by Paul. We were able to play four full courses, Pinhal and the Old Course near Vilamoura as well as the O'Connor and Faldo on site at Amendoeira Golf resort. They are all very different, as well as the Academy par 3 course on resort.
In total there were 7 full rounds of golf and 2 on the Academy course available. Paul organised everything we needed from initial booking, transfers to courses, and the daily arrangements at each course. Paul created the right atmosphere to tailor the trip to each person, to enjoy the courses, and improve our ability. The practice facilities on site at Amendoeira are second to none, with an extensive scenic driving range with free balls, bunker practice area and separate chipping area. Paul was able to give lessons on each part of the game each morning prior to each full round. Paul appreciates each players current level of ability and his method is based around improving the quality without making huge uncomfortable changes to swing, grip, stance etc. With instant video replay available it gave us all something to work on during the trip and beyond.
I would recommend this trip to any golfer, particularly in November. The weather is sunny and warm all day, early 20 deg, with the added bonus of the courses being very quiet.

After the lesson I got the opportunity to put into practice your instructions. This was against Flamborough on Monday. Of 15 fairways I finished on 11 and my other 4 drives ended on the first cut. This to me was a great improvement. Long may it continue. It's reassuring knowing who to see when your game struggles. I would certainly encourage any member to have lessons with you as it can only improve their game and confidence.
Once more thanks and keep up the good work. Regards Gordon McGlynn Seniors Captain, Hornsea Golf Club 2015 |
Having played golf for more years than I care to remember, and having reached a 'typical' club standard. I have always been reasonably happy with with my game and always enjoy my time on the course.
Until one day, mid-summer, out of the blue....shank....then another, and another.
Where did they come from? Can't say I have had a problem with it before. It was getting so bad I was sweating that I may even shank my putter.
I tried all the advice from playing partners, dragged out all my old golf books (usually Christmas presents) to find a cure. Looked on-line, at all the golf guru's. I tried doing so many things I was getting completely confused. the shanking now was affecting other parts of my game. So much so that I called it quits for about a month, hoping that after a break it would go away.
I came back completely refreshed but not so my game. The shanking was still there although I felt I was in control and could enjoy a round without getting over stressed about it. Not so. It came back with a vengeance. I knew that if I couldn't sort it out, I might as well give up.
I spoke to Paul and he suggested that we took a look at one or two things to see where the fix might lie. What absolutely miffs me is that having tried so many things, played so many grotty games, lost about a month of golf, Paul spotted it within about 10 minutes. He had me swinging with confidence right away. Having told me my 'cure' I even tried to hit a shank and found it very difficult.
So I have to say the best lesson I learned was, it doesnt matter how long you have been playing, or how good you think you are, swallow your pride, go back to school, see a teacher and do your homework. I'm glad I did. I've got another lesson booked as you never know how you might improve. It was a quick fix for me that worked a treat. Thanks Paul
